A real-time orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) modem is realized and measured on a general-purpose computer with two software-defined radio platforms. It is built to functional characteristics declared in advance, from which the grid and the frame follow. The OFDM receiver keeps up with the full stream, with no buffer overflow or dropped frame. The declared operating point is met over cable and over the air, and the technical results achieved are close to the theoretical ones.
